A Hidden Gem in Zagreb's Forest
There are restaurants, and then there are experiences. Dubravkin Put falls firmly into the latter category. Tucked away in the lush woodland surrounding Zagreb, this remarkable spot has become one of my absolute favorite escapes whenever I find myself in the Croatian capital.
The Setting
What struck me first was the atmosphere—stepping into Dubravkin Put feels like leaving the city entirely behind. Named after the forest that embraces it, the restaurant offers a tranquil retreat where the only background music is birdsong and rustling leaves. It's the kind of place where time slows down, and you're reminded why dining out should be about more than just food.
The Food
But oh, the food! The Mediterranean menu here is nothing short of spectacular. I was absolutely enchanted by the sea bass and beetroot carpaccio—light, aromatic, and beautifully presented. For meat lovers, the Kobe beef is exceptional, though I found myself dreaming about the Pag island lamb chop with peas, shallots, and thyme for days afterward. And whatever you do, save room for the Louis XV chocolate dessert with foie gras ice cream—it's unforgettable.
Why You Should Visit
After your meal, do as the locals do and take a leisurely walk through the surrounding woods. Trust me, it's the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Dubravkin Put isn't just a restaurant—it's a reminder of why we travel.
