Banje Beach
Banje Beach is one of the most famous beaches in South Dalmatia, and honestly, once you see it, you'll understand why. Nestled just steps from Dubrovnik's ancient city walls, this pebble beach offers what might be the most photogenic swimming spot in all of Croatia – with the medieval Old Town rising dramatically behind you and the lush, uninhabited island of Lokrum floating on the horizon.
Getting here requires leaving your car at the city parking near the walls and descending a flight of stairs, so it's not ideal if you have mobility issues. But for everyone else, the effort is absolutely worth it. The beach is fully equipped with showers, changing rooms, sun loungers, and parasols for rent, plus there's a lovely restaurant where you can sample traditional Dubrovnik cuisine and a café for escaping the midday heat.
This isn't your typical family beach – Banje has more of an adventurous, vibrant energy that appeals to younger travelers and those seeking a bit of excitement. Water sports abound here, from jet skiing to parasailing to banana boat rides. As the sun sets, the beach transforms into one of Dubrovnik's most sought-after nightlife spots.
