Visovac Monastery — A Hidden Gem in Krka National Park, Croatia

🏝️ Visovac Island stands in the middle of Visovačko lake, nestled within the stunning boundaries of Krka National Park, where the emerald waters of the Krka River have carved a karst plateau, creating a harmonious blend of natural beauty and historical heritage.

Visovac was first mentioned in 14th century documents, and around 1445 the Franciscans settled on the island, expanding its area while dedicating themselves to science and education. They erected the church and in 1576 built the monastery that still stands today.
